But more interesting than which cities to avoid, is of course to know which ones offer the most bang for your buck. Go Budget Travel has compiled a list of the cheapest cities for budget travel. The list is quite interesting and useful. The winning trio is:
1 Vangvieng, Laos
2 Goa, India, and
3 New Delhi, India
Despite its huge popularity, Bangkok, Thailand, still manages to come up as number five. Bali is number nine, Beijing number 12, Cairo, Egypt number 15, and Buenos Aires number 19. The twelve most expensive cities on the bottom of the list are all European, probably thanks to the sky high Euro.
The list includes 94 cities. The rankings are based on two variables:
* The cheapest private, double occupancy room, and
* The price of a cheap meal.
So this list is reliable only if you are interested in budget travel.
