A BEAUTIFUL DAY ON THE BEACH IN ABKHAZIA

Beach

The New York Times has an interesting article about Abkhazia. Abkhazia is formally part of Georgia but also a breakaway republic that considers itself independent. A vicious war that was fought in the 90s failed to resolve the conflict and heavy Russian meddling has further complicated the situation. But despite all these problems and tensions, people come to Abkhazia as before to celebrate summer and enjoy the beach. Amazingly the fact that the place is in shambles does not seem to bother. The excellent picture says it all.
