Antigua and Barbuda is celebrating Independence Day today. It became independent from U.K. on November 1st, 1981.

Antigua and Barbuda is a Caribbean island nation famous for its endless perfect white sand beaches and crystal clear blue water – perfect for swimming, scuba diving, sailing or just relaxing. There are two main islands, as the country’s name implies Antigua and Barbuda, and over 360 smaller ones.

The country is more prosperous than many of its neighbors and it has a great selection of hotels and resorts, including some super premium establishments. The islands are frequented by both celebrities and budget travelers alike.

Antigua is the more developed of the two main islands. So people watchers and the party crowd would probably prefer Antigua, while Barbuda is a great choice for bird watchers.
