Today is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s 250th birthday!

As reported by us a couple of weeks ago, the occasion is celebrated with concerts all over the world and especially in his hometown Salzburg, Austria. The city has organized a special Mozart Week celebration and the International Mozarteum Foundation declared the start of Mozart Year. Today a Viva! Mozart exhibition opened in the Residenz museum and the city reopened one of his past downtown residencies that has been renovated. There will be many concerts with leading international musicians not only today and throughout the week, but also throughout the year. So you still have time to participate in the festivities and enjoy a special Mozart concert, opera or mass.

If you are a Mozart fan then you definitely should go visit to participate in the fun. Not only will you have a unique opportunity to listen to great Mozart concerts performed by world famous musicians in an original environment, but Salzburg by itself is a strikingly enjoyable and beautiful city, surrounded by beautiful mountains and great ski slopes.

The websites of the City of Salzburg and the International Mozarteum Foundation have interesting and useful information about the festivities.
